Identifying and procuring the correct wheel brake cylinders for early Jeep vehicles has been a source of endless frustration for both the customer and the parts supplier for many years.  In this illustrated quide we have identified and presented examples of all of the correct OEM Wagner and Bendix wheel brake cylinders with their correct Jeep part numbers as well as detailed descriptions.

All that is required here is that you remove your wheel brake cylinder and compare it to the images shown below. 

You cannot assume that the brake parts installed on your vehicle are the correct parts that were originally installed on your vehicle.

Take note of the position and size of the attaching bolts, the cylinder bore size, the position of the wheel brake bleeder screw and the location of the inlet port for the brake tube or hose.  Some wheel brake cylinders use ¼” -20 attaching bolts and others use 5/16”-18 attaching bolts. Some attaching bolts are parallel in position while others are offset in position.

Some wheel brake bleeder screws are in parallel between the  attaching bolts and others are located on the raised boss of the inlet port.  Some inlet ports are located in the center of the wheel brake cylinder and others are pitched to the left or right on the raised boss.

Some wheel brake cylinders have hard metal tubes attaching directly to the wheel brake cylinder while others have flexible hoses attaching to the wheel brake cylinder.

It is your responsibility to take note of these easily identifiable factors before ordering and to prevent unnecessary returns.

Although the correct attaching hardware was not included with the OEM Wagner wheel brake cylinders we have included at no extra cost the correct grade 8 cadmium plated bolts and toothed lock washers with both our OEM and Replacement wheel brake cylinders.
